Before and After: Transforming a Rental Property

This project started with a list of very specific needs: To bring back the charm and make it enticing for the Seattle rental market. With good bones and an ideal location near shopping and transit, this neglected house was desperate for some much needed TLC.

As the designer, I had my marching orders: All materials had to be stocked locally (even the cabinets had to be ready-made), no customization or waiting for orders; every single item was to be strictly "off the shelf". The goal was to upgrade it smartly - and all within a very tight budget.

Scroll through for the BEFORE images:

I am happy to report that the house improvements not only look better (a LOT better), but the landlord is now able to charge a higher rent than initially anticipated for the investment put into the property.

Check out the AFTER shots:

PAINT COLORS USED:

WALLS: "Windfresh White" SW 7628

TRIM and CEILINGS: "Greek Villa" SW 7551

My role in this particular project was as the Designer On Call - I sourced the materials, specified colors and finishes, all the way down to the tp holder. The owner managed the project, orders and implementation.

I work with clients in a variety of ways, and my Designer On Call service is perfect for those times when you need your designer "in your back pocket" creating the vision and offering support.

The changes here are impressive, especially considering the time and budget constraints. Ready to make changes in your own home? Let's talk. 206-794-0314.
